About Our 2024 Grants

 

Two grant streams: 1) Arts and Culture Grant, and 2) Mentorship and Leadership Grant.

All applicants also have the chance to apply for our Community Impact Award (up to $40,000 in additional funding!


1) Mentorship and Leadership Grant

These challenging times highlight the role of effective leaders in building resilient communities. In response, the Kiwanis Club of Toronto has chose to focus on supporting mentorship and leadership opportunities of children and youth in Toronto with grants up to $10,000 each.

This grant will support initiatives that inspire children and youth to become leaders in their communities. Funding will contribute towards programs that encourage the development of transferable leadership skills, such as decision-making, teamwork, goal setting, time management and community involvement, to name a few.


2) Arts and Culture Grant

The Kiwanis Club of Toronto Foundation is excited to again offer this granting initiative which we introduced in 2022 to support organizations that provide programming for children and youth with a focus on the arts. 

Grants of up to $10,000 each will support initiatives that facilitate the creation of art as a tool for the development of young minds, and/or coping and supporting mental health by children and youth in Toronto.  These grants will fund programs that encourage young people to express themselves through creative endeavours.


Community Impact Award

All grant applicants also have the opportunity to apply for our Community Impact Award (CIA) — up to $40,000 in additional funding!

This year, we will be awarding our CIA to an exceptional charity in the amount of $40,000. The CIA is open to all applicants of our Arts grants and Mentorship/Leadership grants. The recipient of the CIA will be a charity which best explains how the additional funding of $40,000 will impact the organization, their existing programming, and the community through new and innovative programming.

What is the Kiwanis Club of Toronto Foundation? 

The Kiwanis Club of Toronto Foundation is a charitable organization that funds programs and organizations supporting children and youth in Toronto and also awards several post-secondary scholarships.

The Foundation’s source of funds stem primarily from the generous gifts of Torontonians who choose to create a powerful legacy within the community. Read more here: Our Foundation.


What do the grants fund? 

In 2024, there are two grant streams.

2) Leadership and Mentorship Grant – for programs that foster leadership skills in youth/children

Who is eligible to apply for a grant?

The organizations or charities must meet the following criteria:

  • have a Charitable Business Number
  • be located in the City of Toronto
  • support the welfare of youth/children

If I have received a grant in the past, can I apply again this year?

Yes! Past recipients are encouraged to reapply.


When will I be notified if I am a successful applicant?

We anticipate awarding successful applicants by May 1, 2024.

                Congratulations to our Centennial Grant Recipients of 2021:

                As 2017 was our Centennial year, Kiwanis Toronto had an ambitious, one-time only approach to grant applications. We awarded 100 Centennial Grants to 100 charitable organizations with grants of $2500 each. Programs from Toronto-based charities that helped indigenous youth or children in the developing world were also eligible. 

                The applicants who received a 2017 grant were then able to apply for the Community Achievement Award valued at $40,000 – which was awarded to MJKO at our Gala on September 21, 2017.
